Building a resilient business through sustainability

Each year on 22 April, we celebrate our environment on Earth Day and look for ways to protect it. The theme for 2021 is ‘Restore our Earth’ – an important focus as the world begins to heal from Covid-19, and as climate change and environmental destruction continue to harm our natural systems.

Organisations worldwide, and increasingly in China, are recognising the challenges that climate change will bring to the environment, their businesses and the economy in general. In response, many are setting ambitious climate targets. In November 2020, KPMG launched its own climate goals as part of our continued focus on delivering growth in a sustainable way – in addition to committing to being a net-zero organisation by 2030, we have also committed to achieving a 1.5°C science-based target.

But what does this mean and how can organisations build resilience by setting climate goals and improving their sustainability? A panel from CDP, Swire Properties, Lenovo and KPMG will break down the jargon and discuss what companies are doing to lead the way in making real, actionable change.
