Business for Good
“Business for Good” is a notion whereby companies deploy company assets to meet stakeholder needs and create business value in the process.
A new study shows that businesses in Hong Kong have to do more than traditional Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) practices if they want to identify new growth areas, stay competitive, attract customers and talents. It looks into the motivations behind 18 companies around the world that embrace “Business for Good,” including 9 early adopters in Hong Kong (CLP Holdings, Esquel, Grandion Industrial, Hong Kong Broadband Network, Humansa, Jenston Technology, LAWSGROUP, Outblaze and Stan Group). The study also condicted a quantitative survey with 1,000 Gen Y (aged 25-34) and Gen Z (aged 18-24) in Hong Kong. 8 in 10 believe that businesses for good practices will become more important in influencing their consumption and employer choices. They believe that Hong Kong companies are lagging behind in the global movement of adopting doing good and doing well business practices. And many of the respondents (especiallt Gen Z) see themselves as the force of good in Hong Kong.
