Webinar | Inspiring Young People to Make a Better Tomorrow with AI

To most of us, artificial intelligence (AI) is a mysterious black box. But in reality, it surrounds us in so many aspects of daily life, from social media feeds, online chatbots to self-driving cars. More and more companies are adopting big data, taking advantage of machine learning and cloud computing to advance their business and operation. Sooner or later, our students will enter a workforce powered by AI, leading to the creation of new jobs and disciplines.

So how could we get young people motivated to learn AI? As an educator, are you looking for inspiration and advice to integrate AI in your class planning and the course curriculum? Theme “Inspiring Young People to Make a Better Tomorrow with AI”, the webinar on 26 May will invite experienced speakers in AI education to share successful stories with you.

The webinar is a part of the Jockey Club AI Community Innovation Programme, a programme funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and organised by MakerBay Foundation. It is a hands-on education programme, bringing together participants from schools, communities, and the industry to learn, play and solve real-world problems with artificial intelligence (AI).

A frequent advocate for STEM education, she’s presented at the White House STEM Inclusion Summit, SXSW EDU, UNESCO’s Mobile Learning Week, and led the 2019 education track at the UN AI for Good Global Summit. Since founding the organization in 2006, Technovation has welcomed more than 130,000 children and parents, and 14,000 mentors, to participate in its programs in 100+ countries.

Samira Khan

Director, AI & Sustainability

Samira Khan has worked at the intersection of social innovation/impact + tech at both Microsoft, where she was a Director on the AI & Sustainability Market Development team; and Salesforce, where she worked on ESG / Impact Innovation. While at Salesforce, she was involved in piloting a program with the WEF COVID Response Alliance for Social Entrepreneurs. She holds deeper expertise in the ESG space and digital inclusion. Samira has worked across corporations, governments, and the social sector for over fifteen years on innovative solutions to solving some of society’s greatest challenges. She is especially interested in business model innovations and new ideas to deepen purpose and enhance wellbeing. Her work spans the Americas, the Middle East, and Asia. She is a former strategy / management consultant; and while at A.T. Kearney in Southeast Asia, she played a key role in starting and building its social impact organization. She is also passionate about topics related to gender and youth empowerment toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
