SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities Virtual Workshop Series

Tackling the Challenges of Technological Equity

The University of Sydney has a strong commitment to advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is organizing a series of SDGs-themed events with global partners to encourage constructive discussions and develop international collaborations to address issues of significance around the world.

This workshop organized in partnership with University College London will tackle the challenges of Technological Equity in addressing SDG11 Sustainable Cities and Communities – make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. It aims to open discussions on the digital divide and how technological opportunities and challenges are distributed across the world, who benefits, who is left behind, and what needs to be done to address the divide. Taking a critical approach towards SDG11, it will facilitate dialogues on how to achieve equitable and sustainable cities and communities for all.

This will be the second event of the SDG 11 workshop series themed on Environmental Equity, Technological Equity and Social Equity, respectively.

The workshop will serve as a catalyst for collaborative research projects associated with the SDGs. Participants are encouraged to make connections, create networks, identify areas of compatibility and alignment, and develop joint projects. It will be beneficial to those who would like to take advantage of international opportunities and is particularly relevant to early career researchers and research students who are keen to develop their global network.
